Cheap Web Hosting: JumpLaunch

Although JumpLaunch was recently awarded the Best New Hosting Company and Best Customer Support by the some of the leading hosting review companies they are not that new. However, in 2008 they really took off as one of the fastest growing web hosting companies.

In May 2008, they partnered with Commission Junction, one of the top affiliate marketing databases, in an effort to boost their sales and make their name even more known over the net, offering one of the top payouts to their affiliates ($100 per sale!). Usually that sends a positive message about any company including JumpLaunch!

Their basic plan starts at $4.95/month for web hosting service at the time of this post. The offer is promotional and is subject to change. They also offer unlimited domain names hosting on one account, an offer that more and more web hosting companies are ready to embrace.

I don't have a personal experience with JumpLaunch, but some web hosting review sites seem to like them, so if I would look for cheap web hosting I would give JumpLaunch a quick try.

Hosting Cheap Web Hosting - Confusing?

Of course it is! Although the term of web hosting is used as a single word most of the time ( webhosting ) actually is a two-word term describing the service of keeping a website live on the net! A website could be created on a pc or online but is not live (active) on the net until is "published". Once the site is "published" which means that the technology used to keep the site live on the net has been activated, the website will be live on internet 24/7.

Usually the web hosting companies charge a certain monthly fee for web hosting or they offer free web hosting with the purchase of one of their products (domain name registration, ssl certificates, virtual shopping carts, etc...).

The most common one is free web hosting offered with a domain name registration(Domains-Lab, GoDaddy...). However, the hosting provided is limited in a sense that a ad display will be placed at the top of any web page! The ad will be removed once the service is upgraded which will cost on average around $50 per year - still a great offer for a full web hosting service!

Cheap Web Hosting - An Oxymoron?

Maybe not! One would believe that the immense demand for web hosting in the recent years would drive the costs associated with it way up but that did not happen. On the contrary, although the demand increased, the new technological revolution in this field and the fact that more and more companies entered this market led to high quality hosting services at extremely low prices.

The myriad of web hosts that popped-up all over the net created somewhat a confusion about what exactly is " web hosting " and which one of the related products or services are needed and which ones are the extra "free with purchase" items that makes a great sale speech but nobody really wants.

The confusion usually starts with the terms used to describe a certain web hosting product and/or service.

This blog is addressed to those who just started playing with the idea of having their own domain name, website, or blog for personal or commercial purposes and they don't know where to start.

Since I'm not an expert in the matter, but just a dude that plays a lot with these things, may opinion that will be honestly expressed in my next posts may or may not help! However, at least will shed some light over what's out there from a regular guy's perspective
